Resolved Question: What should i do to prepare for road trip from SC to TX?

With gas prices so low and airfare so high during the holiday season i am thinking of just taking a roadtrip to corpus christi instead of flying. I have a 2005 honda civic with about 75,000 miles on it. It's probably a 15 or 16 hour drive but i'm not sure what i should do to prepare my car? Also i doubt i can drive 15 hours straight but i also don't want to stop at any hotels (but i will if necessary). I have heard of people just stopping to nap at rest stops..is this safe?...
